Guide on Bone Cancer and its Diagnosis

Bone cancer begins in the bone which caused due to problem with the cells which makes bone. The bone tumor is most common in children’s and adolescents. It is less common in older person. The most common cancer is primary bone cancer which founds in legs and arms and also they can be occur  in any type of bone. Actually  primary bone cancer are known as sarcomas and the most common bone cancers are chondrosarcoma, ewing’s sarcoma and osteosarcoma. The treatment of bone cancer depends upon the extent spread and from where the cancer is started.

Person with bone cancer suffers from pain and swelling of the bone and also they have unexplained  fractures of bones.The most common symptom of bone cancer is pain and the pathologic fracture mostly present in the children and younger persons.

Diagnosis of Bone Cancer :

First of all the doctor ordered the plain x-rays, sometimes the cancer identified very early because  it does not show up on the plain x-rays. The x-ray of the bone helps to identify the type of cancer whether benign or malignant tumors. The malignant tumors have ragged border on the x-ray while the benign have soft border on x-ray , this is because due to malignant tumors are grows  fast and benign tumors grow slowly.

Also the most advanced test is CT scan which gives pictures of bones in various different angles. This test gives detail information of the bone and also help to identify type of tumor. Also it gives the location and size of the tumor.

There is another advanced test i.e MRI which provides various images of the bones in different angles. This test gives additional information of the soft tissues containing ligaments, blood vessels, muscles, nerves and tendons.
