Treatment Options for Treating Bone Cancer

The treatment of bone cancer will depends upon the location, size and stage of the bone cancer.Also the treatment depends on the general health and age of the patient. It is done through the various treatment like radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgery and cryosurgery.

Surgery:
It is most common treatment used for treating bone cancer. In this treatment the the removal of entire tumor which present inside the bone with negative margins is takes place. While the surgeon helps for removing the tumor with minimal of the healthy bone tissues.

Radiation Therapy:
The therapy uses the high energy x-rays for destroying the cancer cells. This treatment is used either before and after the surgery. In this treatment a small doses may be given to patient over a period of months.

Chemotherapy:
In this treatment, the drugs are used to treating the bone and soft tissue sarcomas. This treatment uses the combination of the drugs such as cyclophosphamise, adriamycin, dactinomycin, ifosfamide, vincristine etc. This therapy is not used for treating chondrosarcoma. It is used  after surgery, for trying to kill the remaining cancer cells which is left in the surgery.

Cryosurgery:
This treatment uses the liquid nitrogen for freezing and destroying the cancer cells.

Hormone Therapy:
In this therapy the removal of organs which produces the hormones takes place. These hormones may lead to the growth of the certain type of the cancer.
